Getting more from Natural Rubber for Demanding Road Conditions

Truck tires have to work under much more severe conditions than their passenger tire equivalents. Durability, often under overloaded conditions, is generally a key market driver. However, the desire for highest strength and wear resistance together with lowest heat build up are material properties that work against one another.

Natural rubber remains the polymer of choice in order to approach these targets. More can be done however, the processing used and choice of compounding ingredients, including fillers and additives, can play an equally important role.

This presentation will explore how by changing filler and additive a cost effective processing can be established, together with  improved compound performance in the key areas of strength, durability, hysteresis and stability.
